Media Working Group founded in 1987, is a non-profit media education, production, research and development organization that provides an organizational framework for diverse multi-disciplinary work in media culture. It is a hybrid of media arts center, incubator, institute, producer network, laboratory, and consulting organization that provides services to its community-at-large.

The organization provides capacity for educators, telecommunications policy analysts, and artists to carry-out their work on their own terms. It is an experiment in artistic control, intervention in media culture, and the creation of a networked organization capable of participating in the emerging local and global economies and cultures.

The Benton Foundation describes Media Working Group (MWG) as "a new kind of non-profit: a multi-disciplinary, education and producing organization. MWG's programming is as diverse as it is creative, including projects and activism in media arts, education, publishing, and telecommunications. Through its involvement in Open Studio, MWG is increasing the arts presence on the national information infrastructure while teaching cultural organizations to see themselves as constituents of cultural industries, with distinct economic influences in their communities."

Media Working Group provides workshops, consulting, and research to address organizational and educational transformation.
